ESPN cancels 'Barstool Van Talk' with PFT Commenter and Big Cat


ESPN has ended its new partnership with Barstool Sports after the website's first episode of its new show, "Barstool Van Talk".

ESPN has announced that they are canceling one of their newest television show Barstool Van Talk after one episode.

ESPN president John Skipper said as much in his statement announcing the show's cancelation. "While we had approval on the content of the show, I erred in assuming we could distance our efforts from the Barstool site and its content", added Skipper.

The broadcaster teamed up with Dan "Big Cat" Katz and PFT Commenter, the hosts of the popular Pardon My Take podcast, to produce the Barstool Van Talk show.

ESPN's decision to partner with members of Barstool Sports, a publication known for its crude humour and sexist jokes, has ended nearly before it began. The cancellation comes shortly after ESPN host Sam Ponder posted screenshots from a post on the Barstool blog that contained misogynistic and offensive comments.

Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy held an "emergency press conference" in a video shared to social media in which he cited internal pressure from ESPN staffers to sever ties with the Barstool brand.

The hosts of the show issued a statement of their own, saying they were "disappointed" in the show being canceled. "In time likes these, we remember what a great philosopher once said: Success isn't owned, it's leased". Thank you to all the Award Winning Listeners/Waters for supporting us, and thank you to all the great people who worked alongside us at ESPN and Embassy Row. "Although we are heartbroken, Pardon My take will continue to get bigger and strong every single day".

ESPN launched the series with Barstool Sports' biggest personalities on ESPN2 in an attempt to attract the blog's followers.
