Gun control group sues 'bump stock' makers over Las Vegas shooting massacre

Authorities said shooter Stephen Paddock's ability to fire hundreds of rounds per minute over a 10-minute period from his perch in a 32nd-floor hotel suite was a major factor in the high casualty count.

The assault "would not have occurred with a conventional handgun, rifle or shotgun, of the sort used by law-abiding responsible gun owners for hunting or self-defense", the lawsuit alleges. It also asks for punitive damages, but doesn't mention a monetary amount.

The maker of "bump stock" devices that allow semiautomatic weapons to behave like machine guns faces a lawsuit for its alleged role in the deadly Las Vegas shooting. The suit alleges that the device was meant to circumvent the law. The law firms filing the suit are the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the Las Vegas law firm of Eglet Prince.
