MGM Faces Questions Over Speed of Response in Las Vegas Shooting

Schuck then saw hotel security guard, Jesus Campos, stick out his head from a doorway.

The gunman who killed 58 people in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history targeted aviation fuel tanks, stocked his auto with explosives and had personal protection gear as part of an escape plan, authorities said Monday.

However, MGM Resorts International, owner of the Mandalay Bay, has disputed the revised timeline.

"We can not be certain about the most recent timeline that has been communicated publically (sic), and we believe what is now being expressed may not be accurate", said MGM Resorts spokesperson Debra DeShong. "We believe what is now being expressed may not be accurate".

Lombardo also said the shooting stopped 10 minutes later, at 10:15 p.m.

Officers reached the 32nd floor at 10:17 p.m., according to Lombardo's timeline. "There absolutely was an opportunity in that timeframe that some of this could've been mitigated".

Haroon was arrested in Pakistan in or about September 2016, and SALIC was arrested in the Philippines in or about April 2017. El Bahnasawy, Haroon, and Salic have been charged with multiple crimes and will be facing life sentences .

A motive for the carnage remains unclear and while police said they recovered a document with numbers on it in Paddock's hotel room, Lombardo on Monday declined to say what it meant.

"It's very confusing to me that they are just discovering this a week later", she said.

Calls and text messages to Campos, Rodriguez and others who might know him were not immediately returned. "It's traumatic for the victims and their families not to be sure of what happened".

In an interview on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday, Stephen Schuck, an engineer at the Mandalay Bay resort, said he was responding to a call about a fire exit door that wouldn't open on the 32nd floor when bullets began flying down the hallway.

Additionally, the 64-year-old had been attempting to drill a hole in an adjacent wall, potentially to mount another camera or to point a rifle through, but it was never completed, Lombardo said.

As the guard notified maintenance and security of the stairwell issue, several single shots were fired into the hallway before he shot again, unloading more than 200 rounds at the guard and a maintenance man, McMahill said.

7th Pay Commission: Benefits To Be Extended To Central, State University Teachers
The Cabinet has approved a hike in the payment of 7.58 lakh teachers, Education Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Wednesday. States will get the Centre's support and all the benefits will be paid from January 1, 2016.

As questions spiral about a significant shift in the timeline of the Las Vegas shooting, a security guard stands in the middle of the controversy: Jose Campos.

The six minutes that transpired between the hallway shooting and the start of the gunman's fusillade wouldn't have been enough time for officers to stop the attack, said Ron Hosko, a former Federal Bureau of Investigation assistant director who has worked on SWAT teams.

Despite the traumatic event, Schuck said he plans to return to work at the hotel.

There is still no evidence Stephen Craig Paddock was motivated by ideology, or that there was another shooter, he said.

Police did not know Campos was shot until they met him in the hallway of the 32nd floor after getting off the elevator, Lombardo said.
