This data includes things like when the device's screen is turned off and on alongside timestamps, a phone's serial number, IMEI, phone number, MAC addresses, IMSI prefixes, the mobile networks it uses, a WiFi network's ESSID and BSSID, which apps are opened and how long they're used. What's really baffling is that the Chinese company is already aware of privacy issue, as previous year security researcher Christopher Moore discovered his OnePlus 2 smartphone was sending data to a HTTPS domain belonging to OnePlus without user's consent.
Back in January, he asked OnePlus support how to disable the data collection, to which OnePlus gave unproductive answers like wiping the cache and performing a factory reset.
Essentially, Moore monitored the incoming and outgoing traffic from his phone to discover that his OnePlus 2 was making traffic requests to open.oneplus.net. There are speculations that OxygenOS, the company's custom version running on top of Android, could have a certain plug-in to enable the transmission but we will have to wait for a fix from the company side.
Florida Reveals Alternate "Swamp Green" Uniforms
For this Saturday's game against Texas A&M , Florida will wear a new uniform created to evoke the look and feel of an alligator. Instead, the uniform will be "swamp green" from the helmet down to the socks with a little bit of orange and blue detailing.
His Oneplus 2 was not only recording and transmitting device curial information, but also monitoring usage patterns of all apps installed. All the data transfers are done to improve services by fine-tuning the software.
A Twitter user, Jakub Czekanski, said that the data transmission can be "permanently disabled". "I've read your article about OnePlus Analytics". He was able to decrypt the data (using the authentication key on the phone) which revealed that his OP2 was sending time-stamped information about locks, unlocks, and unexpected reboots. All you need to do is uninstall OnePlus Device Manager App via adb.
In a statement to Android Authority, OnePlus said "We securely transmit analytics in two different streams over HTTPS to an Amazon server". The first stream is usage analytics, which we collect in order for us to more precisely fine tune our software according to user behaviour.
'No terror angle in conversions'
Shafeen Jahan married Akhila Ashokan in December a year ago after she converted to Islam and rechristened herself as Hadiya. Speaking to India Today, a senior officer of the NIA said, "We have spoken to both Athiras who have said they were lured".
For what it's worth, you can turn off the "transmission of usage activity" by unjoining the "user experience program" in your advanced settings menu. First of all, this was all demonstrated with Moores OnePlus 2. The company was recently found guilty of rigging the benchmark scores for its latest OnePlus 5 flagship device.
Christopher soon realised that Oneplus support team may not be authorised to suggest a legitimate solution even if they want to.
