Two Lashkar terrorists killed by security forces in J&K's Bandipora

Two militants and two Indian Airforce personnel were killed early Wednesday in a fierce gun battle in Hajin village in north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin area of Bandipora district following information on the presence of militants in the area, an Army official said. Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, one of them a Pakistani national, were also killed in the encounter.

He said the two Indian Airforce Garud personnel who were injured in the gunfight with militants later succumbed to their injuries.

On Sunday, Air Force Day, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa had said over 6,000 airmen were trained to respond to Pathankot-like incidents in future.

Sources said that Hajin area has thrown a bigger challenge to security forces as the LeT and Jaish-e-Muhammad outfits have accumulated in the area with effective local support.

The slain militants have been identified as Abu Bakr alias Ali Baba, a Pakistani national, and Nasarullah Mir, a resident of Hajin. "The Chinar Corps commander and all ranks salute the martyrs and offer condolences to the bereaved families".
