Denise Young Smith, who joined Apple in 1997, became the tech giant's vice president of diversity and inclusion in May. Smith was in charge of Apple's human resources division before this new role and has been at the company for 20 years.

Christie Smith, a 17-year veteran of consulting giant Deloitte, will be taking over the role, according to TechCrunch.

"We deeply believe that diversity drives innovation", an Apple spokesperson said in a statement to TechCrunch.

Fall said other possible factors were people who had dogs exercised more and they were happier because of the social contact. Single dog owners usually walk their dog more than those in households with multiple people.

Apple fired its diversity chief shortly after she made statements allowing that white people can come from a diversity of backgrounds.

After the statement, many executives in the tech industry began taking bets on how long it would be before Apple got rid of Young Smith like they did the home button, allowing her to start the rap career for which she already has the flawless name. Her comment was taken intensive by many as a projecting one on the color of people and also towards women and members of the LGBT community.

The news comes only days after Apple released its annual diversity report.

"There can be 12 white blue-eyed blonde men in a room and they are going to be diverse too because they're going to bring a different life experience and life perspective to the conversation", she continued. Apparently, when Apple realized that its chief of diversity didn't actually know what the hell the word "diversity" meant, they quietly chose to upgrade their VP of Diversity office to a new operating system. An unnamed source said that she had been talking with Tim Cook about the next phase of her career and life for about a year and that Apple had already been looking for her successor for a few months. White people, meanwhile make up 66 percent of the leaders at Apple in the U.S. Meanwhile, only 3 percent of Apple's leaders in the U.S. are are black, so Young Smith's departure won't do anything to help the amount of black representation at the top.

Denise later apologized for her comment by saying "were not representative of how I think about diversity or how Apple sees it". At Cornell Tech, Young Smith will work with students to "build an early career-stage awareness of inclusive leadership and diverse talent", according to Cornell's blog.
