Twins manager Paul Molitor and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo have been voted Manager of the Year in their respective leagues, the Baseball Writers' Association of America announced Tuesday. Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black finished third. Roberts was one of five managers to receive first-place votes this year - Lovullo (18 first-place votes), Roberts (five), Black (three), Milwaukee's Craig Counsell (three) and Washington's Dusty Baker (one). The club saw a 24-win improvement (69 wins to 93 wins) from 2016. Craig Counsell of the Milwaukee Brewers finished fourth and Dusty Baker, who was sacked by the Washington Nationals, finished fifth. Roberts finished second with 5 first place votes, 8 second place votes and 6 third place votes. All balloting was completed before the start of the postseason.
