Following back-to-back 400-yard passing performances, Michigan State's Brian Lewerke has barely topped 150 yards through the air the last two games combined.

The DePaul Blue Demons will look for a confidence victory after starting the tournament with a 71-53 loss to Michigan State, falling to 1-3 overall this season in the process. "(The shots) were going in, and hopefully tomorrow I can keep it up".

All was not well in the second half for Michigan State as Miles Bridges gave Spartan Nation an injury scare. An early storyline this season for the Spartans has been the lack of production coming from the "two-guard" position with Matt McQuaid and Josh Langford. The Huskies are more known for their defense, limiting opponents to just 62.7 points per game. "My teammates and coach are always on me about shooting it", he said.

That style of play doesn't bode well for Michigan State, according to Izzo.

"They say 24-48 hours is when you know more about a sprained ankle", said Izzo.

"I definitely did", said Langford. "It just didn't feel right to me". After starting the season 1-10 from behind the arc, McQuaid began Thursday night's contest by nailing his first two 3-pointers and later added another from National Basketball Association range. He injured his left ankle on Sunday in a win over Stony Brook. And the Blue Demons appeared energized by the absence of Bridges.

After tying the game at 37 after a Marin Maric layup, the Spartans began to making their run holding the Blue Demons scoreless over the next seven minutes as they went on a 14-0 run to take a 51-37 lead.

But Michigan State's defensive pressure increased in the second half and the Blue Demons wilted. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Cassius Winston and Joshua Langford each added 10 points. The Seawolves went toe-to-toe with one of the longest teams in the country and held an early 11-5 rebounding advantage to help them stretch their early lead out to seven.
