Major Fire accident in Annapurna Studios today; No loss of life

The famous "Manam" set has been burnt to ashes due to a fire mishap at the Annapurna Studios.

Hyderabad district fire officer M Srinivas Reddy said that it was a ground plus one floor structure and a part of roof made of iron beams collapsed. According to the reports, four fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and the fire was extinguished within 2 hours. The set was empty when the incident happened. Annapurna Studios was built up in 1975 by the late Telugu actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni. No casualties have been reported as both the sets were vacant. Manam was a special movies as it starred the Akkineni of all three generations - Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya. There was only physical damage to the sets. The cause of the fire is still unknown but certain reports state, it was a short circuit problem.
