The bench in a brief order had said, "During the course of hearing it transpires that Padmavati has not yet received certification from CBFC". Now the film is on hold and when it will go for the release is still not confirmed.

As news of the decision by the BBFC spread on Thursday morning, advocate ML Sharma rushed to the Supreme Court with a plea demanding that the Padmavati's producers be restrained from releasing the film overseas.
