Padmavati: British censor board certifies Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film with no cuts


The bench in a brief order had said, "During the course of hearing it transpires that Padmavati has not yet received certification from CBFC". Now the film is on hold and when it will go for the release is still not confirmed.

Sharma alleged that grave damage will be done to social harmony if the movie is allowed to be released outside India.

As news of the decision by the BBFC spread on Thursday morning, advocate ML Sharma rushed to the Supreme Court with a plea demanding that the Padmavati's producers be restrained from releasing the film overseas. "Even if the film is released outside India, it will eventually be pirated to India". It had observed that the CBFC had not yet certified the movie and the apex court could not "injunct" a statutory body from doing its duty.

While several communities have expressed their displeasure over the release of the movie, member from the Bollywood fraternity have voiced their opinion is support of Padmavati team. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial will hit the screens in the United Kingdom on December 1.

The court has not directly sent the complaint to police for registration of FIR but has asked for recording of statement of the complainant.
