Transport NSW to announce Ferry McFerryFace as new Sydney ferry

In March 2016, the naming of a polar research vessel was put to an online public vote which finished with more than 16,500 votes for the amusing designation - and a vote this month for the name of a new ferry in Sydney has ended in a similar fashion.

But as Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance-who probably had more important things to be doing-told ABC News Australia that "given Boaty was already taken by another vessel, we've gone with the next most popular name nominated by Sydneysiders", which is apparently what people who live in Sydney call themselves.

And while "Boaty McBoatface" actually received the highest number of votes, NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said it was avoided in order to prevent a duplicate after a United Kingdom research vessel was dubbed with the same namesake in 2016. "This one is for the kids".

John Kavanagh Says Conor McGregor Was 'Overemotional' At Bellator 187
Not to mention the fact, of course, that McGregor wasn't authorized to run into the cage in the first place. They did inform me that he was set to be on the December 30 card and he will not be on it.

Over 15,000 names were suggested, but silliness prevailed in the end.

"Ferry McFerryface" and the rest of the new fleet will each have capacity for 400 customers, as well as improved accessibility for people with disabilities, wi-fi access and charging stations for electronic devices.

Hundreds of Sydneysiders voted for the name in a public competition, with NSW Public Transport revealing the official title on social media overnight.

Michael Buble to make stage return after son's illness
The 42-year-old Canadian singer announced Monday on social media that he will perform at two concerts in July 2018. The Haven't Met You Yet singer pulled out of hosting the annual Brit Awards ceremony soon after the announcement.

Three other ferries have been named after notable Australian doctors Victor Chang, Fred Hollows and Catherine Hamlin.

The cultural impact of Boaty McBoatface has been felt across the world, with a train in Sweden being named Trainy McTrainface and a horse at Sydney's Warwick Farm racecourse being named Horsey McHorseface. Welcome to Sydney, Ferry McFerryFace.
