PSA announced they would keep all factories, but eliminate redundancies to keep costs low. The company's engineering center in Russelsheim is also set to become a global competence center for the entire group, with German and French specialists working on everything from fuel cells, automated driving technologies, to driver assistance systems.

Overall, Opel aims to reduce the number of platforms it uses for passenger cars from nine now to two by 2024, with the number of powertrains cut by ten to four. The fact that the EMP1/CMP and EMP2 platforms were developed with GM could likely help implementmore quicklyin future models.
