From the western USA, when they rise, the gap between the planets will have widened slightly, to 21 arc minutes (0.35 degrees), the online portal Space reports. Jupiter and Venus will be in the constellation Virgo, roughly southeast, and west of the moon, which will be a small crescent.

The close pairing of the two brightest planets is known as the Venus-Jupiter conjunction.

Like any astronomical event, the conjunction will be best viewed in a rural location away from any light and pollution.

The apparent distance between these two planets on Sunday morning will be more than halved and they will be separated by less than one degree, and on Monday morning, they will appear closest together and rising in tandem, side by side - Venus on the left and a dimmer Jupiter on the right.

No. 17 Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech: 3 keys for the Hokies
Georgia Tech was able to control it despite completing just one pass - a 60-yard touchdown - through three quarters. The Yellow Jackets rushed for 261 yards and augmented that with two explosive touchdowns through the air.

It is, however, not the first time this celestial event has occurred.

In the pre-dawn hours, the two brightest planets in our solar system, Venus and Jupiter, will appear to move past each other forming what looks like a bright double star.

In a very rare treat for stargazers, the two planets will be passing each other which will be visible in the eastern sky about an hour before sunrise, staying low on the horizon.

The conjunction also happened in 2015 and 2016, when the two planets appeared even closer together.
