Alabama's Jeremy Pruitt is reportedly leading candidate for Tennessee job

Tennessee has offered a deal to make Jeremy Pruitt the program's next head football coach, according to multiple reports. Piggy backing off of that report fellow ESPN reporter Mark Schlabach said the school will name pruitt their new coach on Thursday barring any unforsene setbacks. Under Pruitt Alabama gave up an average of 11.5 points a game this season and 11.8 points last season.

The Vols have also reportedly met with Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, as well as former Tennessee linebacker and current Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele regarding the position this week.

He explained how the Trump administration would deal with the situation if Pakistan turned down Washington's request to destroy safe havens.

Pruitt was previously in the running for the Mississippi State coaching job before it was filled by Joe Moorhead. He also held the same position at Georgia from 2014-15 before moving on to the Crimson Tide. In 2013, his only season with the Seminoles, he constructed a unit that led the nation in scoring defense en route to another national championship. He was head coach in Knoxville from 2010-12.

One athletic director upheaval and several swings and misses on the coaching carousel later, the Vols could finally be closing in on a new head honcho.

The son of legendary high school coach Dale Pruitt, Pruitt was an assistant coach in the high school ranks before catching on with Alabama in 2007 as Saban's director of player development.

The Vols' search became major news after the job was given to (and then rescinded from) Greg Schiano. Those options all fell through for various reasons before Currie was sacked and replaced by former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer as athletic director.
