Apple Pay Cash and person to person payments limits

On Tuesday, Apple announced in a press release that customers in the states can use Apple Pay to send money to friends and family "quickly, easily and securely".

Apple specifies consumers may only add funds to Apple Pay Cash Card via P-to-P or from a debit card, minimizing the role of credit cards in funding commercial transactions.

If you pay with a credit card instead, Apple will charge 3% a transaction. This isn't mandatory, but it is required if you want to add funds to your Apple Pay Cash balance (the only other way is for people to send you money through Apple Pay Cash).

Again, while you can transfer your Apple Pay Cash balance to your bank account, you can also spend it straight from your iPhone.

Apple Pay Cash is promoted primarily as a person-to-person payment service leveraging Apple's iMessage feature, similarly to how Facebook enables P-to-P payments within Messenger.
