Arrest made in 2010 killing of former National Basketball Association center Lorenzen Wright


Now, Memphis police have announced that an arrest has been made in Wright's murder.

Billy Turner, 46, was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday in Memphis, The Commerical Appeal reported.

Wright was a native of Atlanta but visiting the Memphis area when his body went missing in summer 2010.

Memphis police announced last month they had found a gun in a MS lake about 75 miles east of the city that they believed to be connected with Wright's murder, Commercial Appeal reports. But his body was so badly decomposed by the time it was found that it was impossible to determine whether more shots had hit him.

Now it appears police may have finally cracked the case, and may be closer to finally being able to answer why Wright was killed more than seven years ago.

The 911 operator who picked up Wright's call waited eight days to alert her supervisor about it, impeding police investigation. For his career, Wright averaged 8.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game over a grand total of 778 regular season contests.
