The Sylacauga, AL-born actor became famous as Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show, which led to a separate spin-off series, Gomer Pyle, USMC.

He was working in Los Angeles when he met Andy Griffith, who talked him into auditioning for the part of bumbling gas station attendant Gomer Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show".

Nabors made headlines in January 2013 when he married Stan Cadwallader, a former Honolulu firefighter and his partner of 38 years at that time, in Seattle shortly after the state of Washington made same-sex marriage legal.

Motorsport.com sends its condolences to Cadwallader and all who knew and loved Jim Nabors. Called Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. - and weekly featuring the friction between Pyle and his no-nonsense drill sergeant - the show lasted five seasons, most of which were spent as one of television's most popular programs.

He recorded dozens of albums, dabbling both in country and opera, and performed often in Las Vegas.

Nabors passed away on Thursday morning, according to Hawaii News Now.

After Pyle ended, Nabors hosted his own variety show, The Jim Nabors Hour, which ran for two seasons. The recurring asthma problems forced him to return home, where he worked as an assistant film editor for a television station in Chattanooga, Tenn., and also sang occasionally on the station's daytime shows.

Another film editing job took him to Los Angeles, where he spent off-hours performing at the cabaret where Griffith spotted him.

Randi Zuckerberg says he was the victim to lewd acts, sexual comments
Alaska Airlines responded to Zuckerberg within two hours of her tweet , calling the allegations "very disturbing". Bobbie Egan continued: "The safety and well-being of our guests is our number one priority".

Nabors had been a permanent resident of Hawaii since 1976, where he tended to a farm that produced macadamia nuts and flowers.

Nabors had undergone a liver transplant in 1994. He said he contracted the virus several years before in India but it had remained dormant.

Nabors was also known for singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" during the opening ceremonies for the Indianapolis 500. When Gomer Pyle, USMC went off the air it was still one of the most-watched series on television.
