Mueller subpoenas Deutsche Bank for records on Trump, family

Special counsel Robert Mueller has sent a subpoena to Deutsche Bank to share any information on accounts held by President Trump and his family as his investigation into any possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russian government continues, according to Reuters news service.

Mueller's focus on Trump campaign officials' financial dealings led to the indictment of Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort and his longtime associate Rick Gates, who pleaded not guilty to money laundering and a host of other financial crimes in late October.

-Mr. Mueller is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election and whether Trump aides may have colluded with Russia, Reuters says.

Germany's largest bank received a subpoena from Mueller several weeks ago to provide information on certain money and credit transactions, the person said, without giving details, adding key documents had been handed over in the meantime.

Trump owed as much as $300 million to Deutsche Bank over deals prior to his election. Russian Federation has denied meddling repeatedly and Trump has denied all allegations of collusion. In 2008 Trump sued the bank to get out of $40 million in guarantees he had made them on his loan.

The bank holds a $170 million loan for his hotel in Washington and also has two mortgages on his Trump National Doral Miami resort and one loan on his tower in Chicago, Bloomberg reported.
