Details about Jessica Chastain's character in X-Men: Dark Phoenix are still hazy, but a new report brings a few things to light. The character is an "otherworldy shapeshifter who manipulates Phoenix (Sophie Turner) for her own agenda". It was a pale imitation.

One of the most beloved comic book stories in the history of superhero comics, "The Dark Phoenix Saga" took the X-Men into space where Jean Grey came face to fiery face with the cosmic force that is the Phoenix. "[The film] was so clear in my head, emotionally and visually, that it would have killed me to hand this to somebody else to direct", Kinberg told EW.

The gang takes their first trip to space in the movie, but a solar flare hits their jet and the energy awakens a powerful, sinister force in Jean-The Phoenix, which threatens to take over her mind completely and divide the X-Men.

She's Sansa Stark no more! (He even graces the cover of Time magazine in the film.) As a result, his "growing ego" starts to endanger the team. What a shock? "Pride is starting to get the better of him, and he is pushing the X-Men to more extreme missions", Kinberg says.

The image comes via Entertainment Weekly and shows Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.

"This is probably the most emotional X-Men we've done and the most pathos-driven", McAvoy told EW. "There's a lot of sacrifice and a lot of suffering". Turner studied schizophrenia and multiple personality disorders to prepare for this hard, volatile role.

When it was announced that Oscar-nominated actress would play a villain in the flick, many assumed it would be Shi'ar Empress Lilandra Neramani because that character factors heavily into the Dark Phoenix comic storyline.
