Sports minister finally approves cricket players to leave for India

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Tuesday (5) announced the squad of 16 players selected to play the 3 match ODI series against India from 10th to 17th December in India.

Kusal Perera's last appearance for Sri Lanka came in their shock triumph against India during the 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy at the Oval.

Now, another controversy has hit the Sri Lankan team ahead of their limited-overs series.

The visitors are also scheduled to play three Twenty20 internationals against India starting on December 20 in Cuttack.

Perera, who takes over the reins from Upul Tharanga, will be without the experienced right-hander, who has made a century and two fifties so far in the Test series in India. "They have now received the necessary clearance and will leave for India tonight", Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
