Time Person of the Year is The Silence Breakers

The Person of the Year for 2017 is "The Silence Breakers", the women who came forward to open a conversation about sexual harassment Kim Jong Un, Colin Kaepernick and President Donald Trump were all in the running.

The women and men who have broken their silence span all races, all income classes, all occupations and virtually all corners of the globe.

The announcement was made Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show, where longtime host Matt Lauer was recently fired amid harassment allegations.

Tottenham Hotspur v Apoel Nicosia
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Georges-Kevin N'Koudou has some growing up to do. Alli has saved his best form for the Champions League.

Thousands more women have used the hashtag #MeToo to draw attention to the pervasive problem of sexual harassment.

"The hashtag #MeToo (swiftly adapted into #BalanceTonPorc, #YoTambien, #Ana_kaman and many others), which to date has provided an umbrella of solidarity for millions of people to come forward with their stories, is part of the picture, but not all of it", Time says in its article about the honor. Heated political decisions have rocked the American landscape, North Korea has its enemies on edge, and still, humankind progresses. Kim Jong Un has drawn Trump's anger with repeated tests of missiles that could carry a nuclear weapon capable of hitting the USA mainland or the nation's Asian allies.

Last year, TIME named Trump the 2016 Person of the Year not long after he won his bid for president. He also is the owner of the Washington Post.
