Ubisoft's Resistance update 1.8 has landed

The West Side Pier is an industrial port in the northwest corner of the map dominated by a massive aircraft carrier, and it will play host to two new game modes.

Skirmish (PvP mode) - In Skirmish, two teams of four players compete against each other to get the highest number of kills before the time expires. So yeah, death-match. Resistance though, sounds cool. In the PvE Resistance mode, different AI factions team up to battle the division agents. Using cooperative tactics is strongly encouraged, as is using the resources dropped by enemies to set up defenses or extend the battlefield. Very cool actually, and a proper horde mode.

Starting Wednesday, December 6 through Sunday, December 10, The Division and all three expansions will be free to play. Teams earn points each time a downed enemy player is eliminated.

Ubisoft has posted a trailer for the latest update to Tom Clancy's The Division's 1.8 update to celebrate its launch tomorrow, and announced plans for a free weekend to boot. This free period will be available across all available platforms and accessible to free weekend players.

Of course, The Division Update 1.8 also includes the usual long list of tweaks, balance changes, and fixes.

They'll also be a new social hub, an upgrade to the rogue mechanics and gear optimization.

As you would expect, any progress made will carry over to the full game if purchased. Players who have downloaded the free trial before December 7th will see trial restrictions lifted until the end of the free weekend.
