30 students detained over cancelled event

A separate complaint has been filed against Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani and Jawaharlal Nehru University student Umar Khalid in Pune for allegedly making controversial statements during an event in the city on December 31. The police had denied permission for the event, after which those who had reached the venue this morning, started protesting. The event is set to be held at the Mithibai College, Vile Parle (W) on Thursday.
