4 powerlifting players killed in road accident in India


Police say that the incident was reported around 4am when the players were returning from an athletic meet in Panipat in a Swift Dzire auto.

In a shocking incident that took place in New Delhi, four powerlifters were killed when their auto met with an accident near the Singhu border in outer Delhi's Alipur area on Sunday morning.

Four national-level weight lifters were killed in a road accident on the Delhi-Panipat highway on Sunday, IANS reported.

"All the deceased and injured are from Haryana and stayed in different places in north Delhi's Timarpur area".

Police said the players who died in the accident have been identified by their first names as Harish, Tikamchand and Suraj, while the fourth person's identity is not known yet.

Fortunately, nobody was killed in any of these incidents, althouth two people were arrested for starting the Nagpada fire. The flames have been confined to the electric wiring and the studio instruments in in a area of 3000 sq ft.

They have been admitted to Max Hospital in north-west Delhi's Shalimar Bagh.

Meanwhile, it has also come to the fore that the six passengers were celebrating Rohit's birthday and had been drinking alcohol. The driver could not see the electricity pole.

It is being probed whether it is a case of drunken driving since some liquor bottles were found in the vehicle, they said.
