Instagram Will Soon Let Users Post Stories Directly to WhatsApp

With the Stories feature, users can share photos and videos with their friends that disappear automatically after 24 hours.

The social media site, which is owned by Facebook, is now testing the new feature on a small amount of users in hope that it will be rolled out globally this year.

If you follow a specific hashtag, you will see relevant posts from the same hashtag in your feed and the Stories bar. Despite the feature's initial inept integration in Facebook, the things went quite well when the company introduced it to Instagram.

Despite the frustration, this and the game against Boston showed that the Nets can really hang with the best teams in the league. Ibaka and Johnson started shoving each other while waiting for the ball to be inbounded under the Miami basket.

"We're always working to make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you", a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch. The official roll out of the feature may happen soon, however, the timeline of the rollout hasn't been decided yet. One key advantage Facebook holds over Snapchat is the fact that it has multiple social platforms - Facebook itself, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger - to play with and so can offer this ability to post from one platform to another. The feature is available for both iOS and Android platforms. However, they still need to tap "send" on WhatsApp for the Story to be posted, and there is a visual indicator on the bottom right to let people know it came from Instagram. According to TechCrunch, who received official confirmation from Facebook, the feature is being tested with a limited number of people in Brazil, with a wider rollout in the cards for later this year.

When Instagram users press the "add to Story" button, they will see a new menu, with the option to share Snapchat-like Stories to WhatsApp.

Earlier this month, Instagram started experimenting with recommended posts. Users of Facebook groups and Facebook events will be able to contribute to a story that will be visible only to other members of that group or event.

The new feature will effectively allow Facebook to increase their total engagement, traffic footprint and potentially increase overall usage.
