Speaking of the luxurious E, this new Mercedes-AMG E53 will provide a middle ground for consumers who don't feel the need for a raucous 4.0L biturbo V-8 found in the E63 and E63 S.

Mercedes-AMG has broadened its line-up with the addition of three new mild-hybrid models - the CLS53, E53 Coupé and E53 Cabriolet. The CLS53 takes things a little further, with specific air curtains integrated into the front bumper for improved aerodynamics and cooling. The Affalterbach tuner also adds a new sports steering wheel as standard. The CLS 53 comes with 19-inch alloy wheels with 20-inch wheels as an option.

Mercedes AMG will debut the new 53-Series models with a special Edition 1 version of the CLS 53 4Matic+ that features exclusive details, including a special interior with details finished in a fine copper color, black nappa leather with contrasting copper stitching, ambient lighting and more.

Mercedes-AMG Reveals First Electrified '53' Models

The story with the so-called "53-series" is really about the powertrain. "Supported by the EQ Boost starter-alternator when moving off, the electric auxiliary compressor builds up a high charge pressure without any delay, for a faster increase in torque for acceleration until the large exhaust gas turbocharger is deployed", the vehicle maker said.

This straight-six uses a traditional exhaust-driven turbocharger, but the 48-volt system also spins up an electric turbocharger.

The 3-litre inline six is part of a new modular series of Mercedes engines that aim to cut costs by sharing parts and improving packaging to allow for hybridisation and more widespread introduction of 48V systems such as the one used here.

Kinder Morgan Inc Stock as Institutional Investors Exit
The company has a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.96, a quick ratio of 0.35 and a current ratio of 0.42. (NASDAQ:MAR) for 40,884 shares. It is negative, as 70 investors sold KMI shares while 353 reduced holdings. 66 funds opened positions while 180 raised stakes.

The turbocharged engine itself produces 429 horsepower and 384 pounds-feet of torque, but it's augmented by the powerful starter-alternator motor, which can electrically add as much as 21 hp and 184 pounds-feet of torque for launch.

In charge of efficiently and swiftly managing these resources are the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic gearbox and the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive setup introduced by the Mercedes-AMG E 63. Under certain conditions, the EQ Boost adds additional power and torque to give an immediacy to acceleration that wouldn't be possible with just the gasoline engine alone.

Other highlights of the 53-series models include an adjustable electronic air suspension, electromechanical speed-sensitive steering, and high-performance internally ventilated brakes front and rear. These cars also borrow the excellent driver assist technology from the flagship S-Class.
