President Kenyatta Begins Three-Day Tour to South Africa

It is the first time the President has set foot outside Kenya since he was reelected into office following a harrowing electioneering period and is expected to be in South Africa for three days.

President Kenyatta said the two countries are not in competition, but in a partnership that complements each other in improving the lives of their citizens. "We want to see how political parties in Africa can cooperate", President Kenyatta said.

Calling for the unity of the party, Ramaphosa said the ANC has produced many great sons and daughters who spent their adult lives in the service to the people of South Africa.

"By modernising agricultural production and developing a substantial pool of skills, we would not only improve food security, but also develop agro-processing, the manufacture of agricultural inputs and increase exports", said the ANC President.

Mr. Ramaphosa said ties between the two countries can be boosted by opening doors to the citizens to travel and do business without impediment.

They pinpointed trade and infrastructure as the pillars that would emphasize the relationship between Kenya and South Africa.

"In order to continue to be the movement we are, the movement of our people, we must, therefore, be able to do this throughout the year". Ramaphosa said there is a lot to learn on agriculture from Kenya, as they play a leading role on the continent in agriculture.

"The economy of Kenya can not succeed if the economy of South Africa fails, and the economy of South Africa can not succeed if Kenya's economy fails", he said.
