Prime Minister Trudeau will visit India next month


The forum shall be attended by more than 3,000 world leaders from the diverse segments of business, art, academia, politics and civil society.

The prime minister is being accompanied to Davos by Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains, Minister of Finance Bill Morneau, Minister of Foreign Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland and Minister of Status of Women Maryam Monsef.

PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend Davos meeting in about 20 years since HD Deve Gowda in 1997.

The World Economic Forum is to meet from January 22 under the broad theme 'Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World.

General Aldo Schellenberg told The Associated Press that the number was not changed following the announcement that Trump would be the first serving president US president to attend in almost 20 years. Thanking Modi, he said his country will continue to strengthen "our relations" with India. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan will also be there.
