The actresses attended Sunday's awards ceremony wearing black in honour of the Time's Up initiative, which was problematic for viewers considering she's been an outspoken Trump supporter.

The 65-year-old actress said Monday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that it's "realistic" for Roseanne Conner to have voted for the president. "A lot of the reason that I did that was to add another layer of freshness for people who are going to watch the series over and over".

Barr pointed out that her intention for the show was to always portray a believable image of a contemporary American family, and she aims to do the same for the upcoming revival.

"People feel like they can't disagree and still love each other and talk to each other. And, in fact, it was the working-class people [who] elected Trump ... so I felt that was something that needed to be discussed". "The show fades to black and her trademark laugh is heard one last time".

"There are a lot of things he has said and done that I don't agree with, like there's probably a lot of things that Hillary Clinton has done and said that you don't agree with", she said.

Asked what she thought of speculation that Oprah Winfrey will run for president after her rousing speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Barr said she loved the media powerhouse "like everyone else". If she is gonna have a storyline where Jackie voted for Hillary and Roseanne voted for Trump, who is going to be seen as right and wrong?

TVLine challenged Barr's assertion that Dan didn't really die, but she shot back, "I think that you should rewatch it".

The sitcom revival will feature the return of original cast members John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, Johnny Galecki and, of course, Roseanne Barr. I am not writing this piece to defend Roseanne Barr, who regularly shares outlandish conspiracy theories, has described herself as mentally ill, once ran as a liberal green third-party candidate for president, and even maybe-ironically dressed as Hitler and pretended to eat "Jew-cookies" once.

And while Dan is coming back, some characters will not be returning.

Roseanne's elder daughter Becky was played by Lecy Goranson in the first five seasons before the role was taken over by Sarah Chalke.

It has been some 20 years since Roseanne left our screens with a controversial final season, and while ABC will retcon the likes of Dan Conners' death, it sounds like that won't be the only change.

"In the next nine episodes, there are at least a handful of them, and they come at the least suspected moments and they really are truly heartfelt and surprising".
