Some 13 armed drones were involved in attacks on Russia's Hemeimeem air base and Tartus naval base in western Syria. The Russian forces managed to bring to the ground at least three and to destroy seven drones that were used for the attacks, capturing some of the rest. Western countries are increasingly vulnerable to "swarm" attacks by armed drones as terrorist groups adopt new tactics, a USA military expert has warned.

Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier held a telephone conversation as well.

He added that those behind the attack were aiming to thwart the Russia-Turkey-Iran agreement on de-escalation zones. In fact, it is quite obvious that there were elements of high-tech nature there.
