Koala Rescue Queensland (KRQ) responded to a report of one of the furry animals climbing a picnic shelter at Brooloo Park Lookout near Gympie, 175 kilometres north of Brisbane'.

Police in Australia are investigating after a dead koala was found nailed to a wooden post in Queensland.

Murray Chambers, co-founder of Koala Rescue Queensland, which first responded to calls about the koala, said the animal appeared to have been hit by a auto.

But on closer inspection it was found to be dead and screwed in place.

One commentator on the Koala Recue Queensland Inc (KRQLD) Facebook page said: "Loved to see the culprits screwed to a pole through their *****!"
