Steve Bannon has stepped down as executive chairman of Breitbart News, the right-wing news organisation said on its website on Tuesday.

Yep. According to The New York Times, Bannon is officially out as chairman of the hard-right news platform Breitbart News, which he helped propel to huge success prior to joining the Trump team.

"Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency", Trump said.

Stephen Bannon's ouster from Breitbart News has renewed hope among some of the website's former staffers who contend that Bannon betrayed Andrew Breitbart's vision by chasing influence in national politics.

The former Breitbart editor has since apologised for the comments and refused to respond to Trump's deeply insulting outbursts on Twitter. "When he was sacked, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind".

His departure from Breitbart is the latest shoe to drop following the publication of Michael Wolff's book "Fire and Fury".
