As far as the trailer goes, you can see Batman and Bane, who have been inexplicably transported to feudal Japan.

For Batman fans in the Western Hemisphere who've been waiting since New York Comic Con to see a time-traveling Batman go literally medieval on his enemies, the wait is nearly over.

Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine transports many of Batman's worst enemies to feudal Japan - along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies.

The Batman Ninja anime movie has been assigned a USA release date, as well as receiving one final trailer from Warner Bros. It has been directed by Jumpei Mizusaki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), written by Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), and designed by Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai). However, upcoming anime Batman Ninja not only embraces said trope, but creatively utilizes it as the basis for an inventive interpretation of the mythology. Home Entertainment on Digital starting April 24; and on Blu-ray Steelbook ($29.98 SRP), Blu-ray Combo Pack ($24.98) and DVD ($19.98) on May 8.

Leo Chu and Eric Garcia reinterpreted the script for the English-language version coming to the U.S. The comics costumes get a Japanese makeover as the villains take over the forms of feudal lords ruling the divided land, led by The Joker himself. A DC press release reveals a different kind of struggle for Gotham City's finest, noting how "as his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted nearly immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies - including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family - to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City".

Warner Bros. Japan, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan serve as executive producers executive producers.
