Encounter underway in Srinagar's Karan Nagar

The chief of the Indian Army, General Bipin Rawat, was in Jammu yesterday, to review the operations that lasted for almost 30 hours.

Troops of the CRPF and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police were carrying out the operation against the militants.

Security forces thwarted an attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Srinagar's Karan Nagar in the wee hours of Monday.

However, the attackers fled the spot after the alert CRPF personnel opened fire.

The guard, posted at the headquarters of the CRPF's 23 battalion headquarters, saw two suspected terrorists approaching the camp at around 4.30 am and opened fire.
