Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney plans to announce Utah Senate campaign

Mitt Romney was expected to announce his run for Senate in Utah Thursday, however he announced Wednesday he will not make the announcement out of respect for the victims of the deadly school shooting.

Romney is widely viewed as a favorite to win the Senate seat soon-to-be vacated by longtime Sen.

The former MA governor moved to Utah after losing the presidential election. He was the GOP nominee for president of the United States in 2012, losing to President Barack Obama. Anderson also allowed as how Mitt wasn't on particularly good terms with the nation's Republican president, either; this may have given some national folk the impression that he's a Trump guy carrying MAGA water. Trump, a man whose blood pressure rises with every sign of criticism, threw a punch back.

A VA spokesman, Curt Cashour, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Wright Simpson. In a statement initially published on the VA's site, Shulkin said he had "done nothing wrong".

Anderson didn't think Romney's candidacy is a harbinger of the end of the caucus system in Utah, with wealthy/well-known candidates doing an end-run around the convention, then winning the GOP nomination.

Mr. Trump endorsed Mr. Romney's presidential campaign in 2012, but their relationship soured in 2016 when Mr. Romney delivered a speech to call the New York Republican a "phony" and a "fraud". "People who hate Donald Trump and expect Mitt Romney to go after him in a cage match are going to be disappointed, and the people who hate Mitt Romney and want the president to go after him in a cage match are going to be disappointed". They believe Romney would have supported the GOP tax law, which permanently chopped rates for companies and at least temporarily trimmed the tax burden on most individuals. Flake also said he met with Romney "a couple of weeks ago".

Is History Repeating Itself In Oil Markets?
Last year, more than 80 percent of the production growth from the United States came from shale oil deposits in the Lower 48. Energy Information Administration is saying U.S. crude oil output could reach 11 million bpd by the end of this year.

"Here's a guy that is from outside of Utah that apparently has victory in hand", he said.

"I can't think of a logical reason why he would do that", Mr. Hansen said. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., announced previous year that he would not seek re-election in 2018, and even as reports continue to circulate that he may rethink he decision, Romney could still be eyeing a position on the high-profile committee.
