So what's different? The marquee change is the addition of some AI touches (hence the ThinQ name, which made its debut with smart appliances and TVs at CES 2018). With the vision of becoming a human-centered AI company that puts consumers first, LG's vision for ThinQ is to promote artificial intelligence as an approachable and less intimidating technology. Specific features that are being ported were not mentioned - mostly because it hasn't been ported yet. Currently, the AI CAM differentiate between eight categories including portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset.

According to LG, "each mode enhances the characteristics of the subject taking into account factors such as the viewing angle, color, reflections, lighting, and saturation level". Then there is QLens which can be used to scan QR codes, things, and landmarks to give you contextual results based on the subject. When turned on, it automatically activates in very dark conditions, and brightens the image considerably (LG says the brightness is doubled). The V30S ThinQ comes with two new features- Vision AI and Voice AI. Other features include Voice AI, which allows users to run apps and change settings using voice commands.

LG also enhanced the smartphone's Google Assistant-based voice command support, adding 32 exclusive AI voice commands to allow for direct activation of the most popular functions without having to go through multiple menu options. With 6GB of RAM, smooth multitasking and faster performance is virtually guaranteed and storage capacities of 128GB in the LG V30S ThinQ and 256GB in the LG V30S+ ThinQ means that customers will never run out of space. There is also a microSD card slot (up to 2TB) for those who need more onboard storage than this.
