A 4-year-old girl who disappeared Tuesday in SC on Tuesday has been found safe in Alabama, Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg confirmed Wednesday.

Heidi was reported missing on Johns Island shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The four-year-old was wearing a hot pink top and blue trousers when she disappeared.

He was eventually taken into custody in MS after a police chase.

The girl's mother told police an "unwanted" male guest came to the home Tuesday and physically assaulted her.

Todd's father, a member of the Coast Guard who was out of town in training, is now with the mother, according to Mayor John Tecklenburg, who briefed the public with interim police chief Jerome Taylor on Wednesday afternoon. She was found around 4 p.m. EST on Wednesday in a business parking lot on Highway 78 near Depot Street in Riverside.

Four-year-old Heidi Todd from Johns Island was reported missing on February 13.

"It's a coordinated local, state and even federal hunt at this point for Heidi Todd". He immediately returned to Charleston upon learning of the situation. The girl's mother was found brutally beaten and described the attacker as a "skinny" Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years of age, with short hair.

Tecklenburg said investigators are searching "everywhere" and aren't sure whether or not the child could have been taken in a vehicle.

Two other children were found in the home unharmed, the mayor said.

The FBI announced a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to Todd's recovery, and a private donation from someone who wished to remain anonymous added another $10,000 to the reward.

Authorities spent the past 24 hours looking for the girl, searching nearby ponds and flying over Charleston in helicopters.

Tecklenburg said everything is being done to find out what happened to the child.

Cryptically, police say Heidi's disappearance is the result of a home invasion but they will not say that she was abducted and an amber alert has not been issued. "She did not invite anyone into her residence", Taylor said.
