New York Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis carried off court with apparent leg injury

A Knicks season that started with promise more or less ended with anguish Tuesday night, as All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis tore his ACL against the Bucks. With AP Photos.All-Star Kristaps Porzingis left the Knicks' game against Milwaukee in the second quarter with a left knee injury.

He played no further part in the game and an MRI scan later confirmed he had torn ligaments in his left knee, the Knicks said.

Before the injury, Dellavedova had been enjoying a marked improvement in game time under new coach Joe Prunty, who replaced the sacked Jason Kidd last month.

Looking beyond this season, the Knicks were comfortable with the idea of offering Porzingis a rookie extension this summer. The center dropped 19 points and snatched 16 boards three days removed from a 17-point, 18-rebound performance against the Bucks in Milwaukee.

Looking beyond this season, the Knicks were comfortable with the idea of offering Porzingis a rookie extension this summer. Porzingis immediately grabbed his left knee after landing following a dunk and was clearly in pain.

The Knicks aren't at a complete loss for the long-term because of the Porzingis injury. At least that's how many Knicks fans felt Tuesday night after the team announced that that the test had shown that their star has a torn left ACL. The 22-year-old certainly deserved a better ending in what was a truly remarkable breakout year.
