Chicago police say Commander Paul Bauer was off-duty listening to his police radio, and tried to help officers chase a suspect near the Thompson Center downtown Tuesday afternoon.

Chicago Superintendent Eddie Johnson identified the officer as Commander Paul R. Bauer of the 18th District in a press conference Tuesday evening.

Bauer, a 31-year veteran, was in the area, overheard police radio transmission and confronted the individual, Johnson said.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a flawless hat-trick at the weekend and could spark his teammates into producing an inspiring display. But Neymar can nearly do and say what he wants, as long as his performances on the field satisfy PSG's Qatari owners.

Bauer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a chest wound.

Johnson said the suspect is in custody and police have recovered the weapon. "This afternoon, a CPD commander was shot while assisting fellow officers". Another witness said she saw a gurney coming up the stairs and saw paramedics performing chest compressions until the victim was taken into the ambulance.

"OK, is that an off-duty [police officer]?" the dispatcher said.

Musk tweeted recently that the two engines failed to fire because they ran out of ignition fluid. "Fix is pretty obvious". For that, it is building a new drone ship that will join two other SpaceX drone ships now floating on the Space Coast.

A different officer came on the air and said they found the suspect and had him in handcuffs. No officer as high ranking as him has been killed since 1981 when Chicago's number two cop was murdered in a downtown bar. The I-Team has learned the officer was shot twice in the head. "We just wanted to do a street stop on him and he took off on me". He was on the stretcher, there was blood and they were doing (CPR). I heard that the door is locked there. "Maybe I'm jaded, I don't think that's anything to be proud of", he said.

"His death is a tragic reminder of the risky duty the men and women of our police department accept to ensure the safety of us all", Emanuel said in a statement.

Johnson said he's spoken with Bauer's wife and daughter and asked for the city to keep them in its thoughts. Many workers said they could not get back into the buildings.
