Sam Allardyce: 'Everton must do far more in final third'

Sam Allardyce has acknowledged that an inability to create and score chances once again cost Everton, as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Watford.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has praised Oumar Niasse for his recent impressive displays for the club.

Watford will be looking to the likes of Troy Deeney and Richarlison to shine in Saturday's evening clash, and that pair are sure to look to test the returning Williams in the Everton defence in what is a fairly hard game to call, as this match concludes the day's Premier League action. In Javi Gracia's team they faced unambitious and limited opponents, but even then demonstrated little desire to win.

In recalling Ashley Williams and Jonjoe Kenny to his side, two weeks after their 3-1 defeat of Crystal Palace, Allardyce made minimal changes to a winning team yet rarely saw them threaten.

Sebastian Prodl headed over the top for the Hornets early in the second period, but Everton could have been ahead after 52 minutes when Michael Keane met a cross but steered his header wide of the far post.

"But you look at the away results and you just go, 'Wow, what is the difference?' and the difference today was purely and simply that we didn't have a finisher on the pitch good enough to put the ball in the back of the net and Watford did, with Troy Deeney's great finish in the end".

Okaka tested Pickford with a low shot towards the bottom corner before a stoppage-time scramble nearly led to an undeserved Everton equaliser.

Pickford came forward for a late corner and, after he won the header and Watford struggled to clear, Tosun turned the ball goalwards, forcing a desperate, diving save from Karnezis that secured his team's victory.
