Statue Of Liberty Hockey Masks May Be Too 'Political' For Winter Olympics

The American goalie went through all the designs on it: the United States of America crest on the top, the drawing of the famous V-J Day kiss on one side, the bald eagle on the other side, and, last but definitely not least, a stamp depicting the Statue of Liberty right on the chin which juts out when shooters take aim.

The International Olympic Committee rescinded it demand Wednesday that the U.S. women's hockey goalies removed the Statue of Liberty image from their masks because they violated the organization's ban on political symbols. The IOC rule states, "No item may feature the wording or lyrics from national anthems, motivational words, public/political messaging or slogans related to national identity". Those are well-known and consistent between Games. Player Alex Rigsby also has an image of the statue on her chin strap.

Raiders Moving on From Sebastian Janikowski After 18 Years
Giorgio Tavecchio , 27, replaced Janikowski this past season and made 16 of 21 field-goal attempts, including a long of 53 yards. Many 20-something NFL-watchers literally can not remember a league that did not feature Janikowski kicking for Oakland.

According to Allen, the issue is expected to be resolved before Team USA's game on Tuesday against the Olympic Athletes from Russian Federation.

On Tuesday morning, the official IOC Media Twitter account sent a message saying "there seems to have been a misunderstanding, we have not asked for the symbol to be removed".

Priya Prakash Varrier's Charm Is Spreading Like Wildfire!
He further said that "If the song is not removed from the film then the members of Raza academy will protest nationwide". Until now there have been only praises for Priya Prakash Varrier and her song from the forthcoming film Oru Adaar Love .

USA Hockey's Dave Fisher is working with the International Olympic Committee to ensure that the matter is resolved prior to Team USA's next game, which is Tuesday at 7:10.am. USA's Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson set an Olympic record for the fastest back-to-back goals by a man or a woman, scoring 6 seconds apart in the second period Tuesday. What makes this even more farcical is that Hensley and Rigsby didn't even play in Team USA's opening match; Maddie Rooney (sans statue design) got the start.

It is not the first time a question has been raised about symbols on a US goaltender's mask. No medal will be on the line this time, though, just positioning for the semifinals.
