North and South Korea have always been at odds, so when athletes from both nations walked under the same flag at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics opening ceremony on Friday the world paid attention.

Spectators were visibly moved, HuffPost Korea reported, with some in the audience tearing up at the sight.

The games are taking place amid an worldwide standoff over North Korea's nuclear weapons, but I thought the official role of the Olympics was for us to have a place where we leave all that stuff at home?
