A standoff that saw a gunman barricade himself inside a home in Detroit ended early Monday, Feb. 12, with four people dead and three police officers wounded.

At about 10:30 p.m. Sunday officers responded to the 911 call about shots fired.

The "dangerous" standoff came to an end on Monday when police made entry into Smith's home through robots and found the suspect dead inside, police said, adding that they believe he took his own life.
The suspect killed two women and then fired an unknown number of shots, pinning down officers for almost an hour.
Several fires were started by the suspect through the night, possibly for warmth, Craig said. However, police discarded the theory after arresting a neighbor who they believed to be the second shooter. The off-duty DPSCD officer suffered a gunshot wound to the knee and is expected to survive. Craig said about nine of his responding officers were pinned down by gunfire for about an hour.

There is no information how he went missing or ended up in Sacramento. "They'll do a comprehensive investigation", Ramagnano said. Yet the local police found Filippidis at the Sacramento International Airport, near the rental auto terminal, the Star reported.

We're told the gunman is a CPL holder, with seven guns registered to him.
At the time, Craig blamed Doss' slaying on police work being risky but also society's failure to treat many of those with mental illness. They've been used in past Detroit-area barricaded-gunman standoff situationsto determine whether the suspect had committed suicide or still posed a threat.
"The suspect was heard saying prior to the instances, 'I will not be taken without a fight, '" Craig said.
