'Cat in the Hat' marks Dr. Seuss' birthday with Moreno Valley visit

Peter White Public Library hosted a birthday party for the late Dr. Seuss, a beloved children's author, to kick off National Reading Month.

"Seuss books because they are amusing and sometimes he makes up words", said Fletcher, student.

"Some of the books are very easy to read but he has all levels of reading", Bagley continued.

For the past couple of years Linda Bagley has dressed as Dr. Seuss's famous cat to read Seuss books to children.

As part of "Dr. Seuss Reading Day", the nonprofit is visiting six area pre-schools to read to students and gift the classrooms with donated books. They're excited, they're happy to be here.

"The younger kids love it", she said. Some of them read to students in more than one classroom, in some cases two or three rooms, to ensure all morning classes were covered.

"I like mystery books because it keeps you motivated and reading", she said.

March 2nd is Dr.Seuss's birthday and is honored by fun decorative hats and his timeless books that are still used in classrooms.
