Delhi sealing drive: BJP hits back at Arvind Kejriwal, Ajay Maken

After the all party-meeting at the CM's residence, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the government would submit a survey report on 351 roads in the Supreme Court on Monday to ensure that there is no sealing on these roads in the coming days.

The BJP today made a decision to boycott an all-party meet called by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow to find a solution to problems being faced by traders because of an ongoing sealing drive in the city, even as the AAP slammed state BJP chief Manoj Tiwari for touring overseas at a time when city traders were facing problems. Following their agitation, an interim relief came from the top court which stayed the sealings to review the Delhi Master Plan 2021.

"I wish BJP had also participated in the interest of Delhi's traders", Kejriwal later tweeted, describing it as a very good meeting.

Sisodia said the government would create opportunities for both parties to apprise the monitoring committee about their views on the sealing.

The all-party meeting ended up being an AAP and Congress meeting, with the BJP boycotting.

"Had they been interested in resolving the matter, they could have brought a law in one day in Parliament as they have numbers".

"There are some issues on which we should not do party politics", he said.

Maken said he had suggested that the government effectively tackle the sealing case in the Supreme Court, and added that as the government had so far not approached the monitoring committee, an all party-delegation should meet the court panel to discuss the issue.

"The government should appoint prominent lawyers as the chief minister has appointed for his personal litigation", BJP said in a letter to Kejriwal. The meeting lasted nearly for an hour and was fruitful, Maken said.

On March 11, the Chief Minister had written to Delhi Congress and BJP chiefs respectively, inviting them to attend the all-party meeting.

Notably, a "bandh" is being observed on Tuesday by the traders in the national capital in protest against the sealing drive. This after the Delhi Chief Minister sent out invites to members of all parties - including Congress'Ajay Maken and BJP's Manoj Tiwari.
