Disney is bringing 'immersive' Marvel lands to its theme parks


In addition to the additions coming to California Adventure, Disney is also planning on re-theming the Rock 'N Roller Coaster in Disneyland Paris as an Avengers attraction as well as an Ant-Man attraction in Hong Kong.

Marvel Superheroes will be swinging their way into Disneyland soon, as A Bug's Land will be closed to make way for a new "Marvel Land" in Disney California Adventure.

Disney acquired Marvel in 2009 and has been adding Marvel-themed attractions to some of its parks since. That same year, Disney's Hotel New York® will be reimagined to become Disney's Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, the first Disney hotel to showcase the inspiring world of the Avengers, Spider-Man and more. The expansion at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will bring a new attraction or entertainment offering nearly every year through 2023. This new land will be anchored by the popular Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!, in the adjacent space that is now occupied by "a bug's land". The 3-D film experience "It's Tough to Be a Bug" shuttered on Monday, with the rest of the area expected to follow suit later this summer. This will be in addition to the Iron Man Experience, which opened a year ago and is now the resort's most popular attraction. Favorite heroes will take the stage for a brand new, live-action super-production featuring cutting-edge special effects and spectacular projections.

Things will get a little smaller for Hong Kong Disneyland in a new themed area that will have guests team up with Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Disneyland Paris will host a Marvel Summer of Super Heroes event from June 10 to September 20, where "heroes will take the stage for a brand new, live-action super-production featuring cutting-edge special effects and spectacular projections", according to a press release.
