Jets 'working on a deal' for QB Teddy Bridgewater

The New York Jets are working on a deal to bring in Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as their new signal called, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. Nothing that happens in free agency will preclude them from considering a quarterback with the sixth pick in the draft, a source said. Both players are on one-year deals, so they still haven't found their long-term solution at quarterback.

The Jets didn't win the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, but they still landed two quarterbacks in free agency on Tuesday.

He started 12 of his 13 appearances as a rookie in Minnesota, posting 2,919 yards and 14 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

Coming in to relieve Bridgewater - post-injury - was Sam Bradford, who posted single-season career -high marks in yards and percentage in 2016-17.

The Jets have now agreed to deals with two quarterbacks in the legal-tampering period as they reportedly have signed up last year's starting QB Josh McCown to a one-year, $10 million deal.

Now the Jets have to go back to the drawing board, and in all likelihood double down on finding their quarterback of the future in the 2018 NFL Draft. Going 5-8 as a starter while putting up a career-high 2,926 yards and 18 interceptions captained NY to a 5-8 record as a starter, a surprising mark for a team expected to compete with the winless Cleveland Browns for the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
