Manchester United captain Michael Carrick to retire at end of season


The former England worldwide, 36, made the announcement at United's press conference on Monday to preview the Champions League last 16, second leg against Sevilla.

Manchester United veteran Carrick announced he would be hanging up his boots at the end of the season during the Red Devils' pre-match press conference ahead of tonight's Champions League showdown against Sevilla.

Former West Ham United and Tottenham midfielder Carrick has won five Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time with Man United, and was handed the captain's armband previous year following Wayne Rooney's departure.
