Package destined for Austin explodes inside FedEx facility near San Antonio

Presently the FBI is leading an investigation that includes the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as Schertz police and the San Antonio Police Department bomb squad.

The blast happened overnight Tuesday morning at the FedEx Ground distribution center in Schertz, just northeast of San Antonio on FM 3009 Highway.

San Antonio fire service tweeted: "MAJOR INCIDENT SCHERTZ TEXAS AREA".

Officials in Austin said they are dealing with a suspected serial bomber after four other package bombs exploded in the state capital in the past month. The person injured sustained a concussion from the detonation of the package, officials said. The FBI and ATF are at the scene.

On March 12, two explosions took place in quick succession, the first killing teen Draymen Mason and injuring a woman, and the second injuring a pensioner.
