Russia Says it Test-Fired a Hypersonic Missile

Russian Federation says it successfully completed a test launch of the hypersonic missile President Vladimir Putin touted as an "ideal weapon" in early March.

The ministry released video footage showing two pilots gearing up for a flight and then running towards a jet with a large missile slung beneath its underbelly. The ministry said its intended target was successfully hit.

"MiG-31 jet of the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted a test launch of hypersonic aviation and missile system Kinzhal in a set district". The weapon, which is named after a type of dagger, is one of a cache of new weapons Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a state address earlier this month, per The Guardian.

Phillies reportedly closing in on deal with Jake Arrieta
Arrieta has started at least 30 games in three straight seasons, but he's only pitched more than 200 innings once - 229 in 2015. Arrieta, 32, had a strong second half of 2017 leading into free agency, as he compiled a 2.28 ERA following the All-Star break.

The Kinzhal missile is said to be capable of traveling 1,200 miles without entering the enemy's air defense zone. The video then shows a missile detaching from the airborne plane and gliding across the sky. Cruise speed is 2.35 Mach with a combat range of 1450 km.

Russian Federation has launched a powerful new missile.

"Crews of the air system on the testing air alert sorties completed over 250 flights year-to-date under the combat training plan". Tests of this nature also help the ground crews and all other military personnel involved to get familiar with the new missiles. The Kinzhal system was developed based on the MiG-31 upgraded interceptor jet.

Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White downplayed Putin's comments, saying the USA military was capable of defending the country from any threats.

Mr Putin is widely expected to be re-elected as Russia's president in a week's time. "The attempt at curbing Russian Federation has failed", Putin said. "They do not impact any need on our side for a change in our deterrence posture". "The launch was normal; the hypersonic missile hit the preset target on the test site".
